Monday Run Log: Rainy Run

Day one of my November Training plan!

November Training Plan

Monday week one: 5km steady pace run

Setting: Straight up a local ridge and back down (33m elevation)
Distance: 5.17 Km
Time: 37:55
Average Pace: 7:20 /Km
Tunes: Spotify Playlist: “Zombies, Run!” by RIAVEG8  (As you can see, I don’t change it up much once I’ve found something that works)
I am also up to Season Two of Zombies, Run! So that has been keeping me pretty motivated, as I want to catch up.

The Run: After my Goal Setting post yesterday I couldn’t back out of this one today, the first day of my November plan to improve my endurance! So I had to do it, even though it’s miserable rainy spring weather. I ended up feeling surprisingly good by the third km and kept a steady pace for the last two km’s.

  • So many puddles
  • This spray jacket is getting warm
  • Thank god, it’s stopped raining!
  • Up-hill is the worst
  • I really need to pick up the pace
  • Wohoo! Finally feeling like a runner again!

Saturday Run Log: Getting back into it

Today was one of those perfect Canberra days: a slight breeze, and sunshine from 6am til 7pm. Unfortunately for me, I am at the tail end of the semester and have had four assignments due in one week.
So after submitting three of my assignments throughout the week, and with one to go, I decided to go for a run!

Setting: Local run around the neighbourhood
Distance: 5.01km
Time: 36:01
Average Pace: 7:11 /Km

Tunes: Spotify Playlist: “Zombies, Run!” by RIAVEG8 (Continued with this one, and surprisingly, it got better! 70’s rock makes running ok)

Continued with the Zombies, Run! missions released with Call of Duty and this episode had some more interesting parts to it, though it was still less exciting than I’d hoped, I’ve decided to persevere through them since I’d already started.

The Run
: It felt nice to get out of the house and into the sunshine. We’ve been AirBnb’ing our spare room, so I’d spent most of the day preparing the house for a new guest and listening to lectures. It was nice to get out into the sunshine. My lungs didn’t start burning straight away, and it was good to stretch my legs after the run yesterday, which left my glutes and hammies pretty tight!

Thoughts during:

  • I’m glad I put on sunscreen
  • Doubling up on the sports bra was a good idea
  • Tights will always will v. shorts for running
  • Eating lunch was another good idea
  • Eff me it’s hot
  • Should have thought about hydration
  • How far have I gone??!

Review: Call of Duty WWII Collaboration with Zombies, Run! (missions 1-3)

My review of the first three missions in the collaboration between Zombies, Run! and Call of Duty: WWII

The Crappy Runner sees storm
The Crappy Runner sees a storm, runs toward it.

Setting: Loop around my neighbourhood and surrounds
Distance: 5.12 Km
Time: 39:16
Average Pace: 7:40 /Km
Tunes: Spotify Playlist: “Zombies, Run!” by RIAVEG8 (pretty good, but “Eye Of The Tiger”???!)

Feels: When I saw the new missions pop up for the Call of Duty: WWII collaboration, I was super excited for some vintage war-inspired scary runs!! Unfortunately, these new missions are just brought to you by the team at Call of Duty team. So they are less horrifying run through the woods in Nazi Germany being chased by Nazi-turned zombies, and more mission run.
I will be finishing the rest of the missions and do another run-log with my thoughts on the last two.

The Run
: It feels good to be getting back into running, and even though my time hasn’t changed much, my stamina has! I look forward to building it back up to what it was after the 10k, but this kind of run is definitely getting me in the right direction.

My thoughts during:

Runner 5 - Call of Duty: WWII Review run
  • Wearing new shorts was probably a bad idea.
  • These storm clouds look menacing
  • I’m hungry
  • My legs are on fire
  • How did I use to do this?
  • Wow, I feel amazing
  • These shorts suck
  • Ugh
  • Oh! Down-hill! This is nice!
  • Ugh
  • Sunburnt legs are the worst
  • I’m so hungry!
  • and on and on and on..
  • OOH! Flowers!
